Call of Duty

I’m usually excited to be summoned for jury duty, but then, I remember the reality of what it actually entails. I’ve been summoned three times in my adult life now, reporting twice. Both times I’ve gotten as far as jury selection but never further. In concept I think I might actually enjoy hearing a trial, but I have a tendency to speak up during selection and voice my honest (read: unpopular) opinions, leading to my ultimate dismissal.

Other than that, if you’ve served, you know it’s a lot of sitting around and doing nothing. And if I’m doing nothing in an air conditioned building early in the morning, you’re putting me to sleep.

Love the Phoenix Wright moment in panel 3.:)

I got called for it twice myself. Second time around I got picked for the Jury but the day of the hearing/trial/whatever the matter was settled out of court.

Dude, I served on a jury for a drive by shooting in good ol’ Amsterdam NY. It was fun, but up until two months ago, I was still getting notices to serve jury duty in NYS, though I’ve been a PA resident for 18 months and served only 2 years ago.

I’m probably still getting summonses in NYC :P

I love getting called….it beats the snot out of work even at $15 a day. Plus it’s a chance to see close up the whole theatrical rigamarole of the legal system from a safe distance as an impartial observer. They never pick me though. “Artist” is an invalid occupation I guess. Plus I know a lot of cops. It’s a great civic duty in any case.
