Adventures of Kurtis: Conflict of Interest

In the first of two guest strips you’ll be seeing over the next few weeks, we return to the Adventures of Kurtis.

Though I’m not in this strip, I sympathize with Roy here, deeply. In the indie rock world there are a number of awesome female vocalists. Their vocals are unique and usually what draws me a particular bands, especially when compared to the other music I listen to. But, for some reason, each and every one of these outfits tends to share their singing duties for a song here or there. It’s not something some of us are terribly fond of.

Over the next week and half I’ll be traveling back to New York to see one of my best friends get married. I’ll have a new strip for you next Thursday, and the week after you’ll be treated to another guest strip from a mystery artist (no, it’s not Kurtis).

The guy really should shine. If you look at Nightwish you’ll find that the men, despite having talented vocals and instrumentals, were snubbed out as long as Tarja Turunen was with them.
