There are a lot of great things in China, but bathroom situation sure isn’t one of them. Judging from many of the ones I used, restroom pleasantness isn’t a high priority there. Given, some of the bathrooms I used were in high traffic tourist destinations, so keeping it tidy would be quite difficult, but goddamn, were some of them nasty. I witnessed a girl from our tour group stand in line to get into the bathroom, and then immediately exit, covering her nose with her shirt, exclaiming “Oh my god! I’m not going!”
Cleanliness aside, people really do have less of a sense of a private bubble there than we are used to as westerners. If there is a line to be waited in, even in a urinal situation, you can be damned sure the person behind you will be all up in your Kool-Aid.

Giving new meaning to Streamline Efficiency. Oh man I just grossed myself out.
I cannot +1 that comment enough!!
