Seriously, who invented the butternut squash? I’ve never actually seen one in person, but I discovered them doing reference for a freelance client; I was flabbergasted.
Next, I’m still trying to settle on a depiction of Roy that I am completely happy with. If you read over my comics you’ll see his face fluctuates a lot, sometimes even within the same strip. The version I’ve whipped up in panel 6, here, I think is my favorite Roy so far. A bit cartoonier, but packing some real character.
And finally, the strip’s title is in reference to the Atmosphere track, ‘Domestic Dog‘, which so happens to be about picking up women in grocery stores. It’s a silly song, but one of my favorites of his more recent material.
